Is Your Garage Door Ready for Hurricane Season?
The garage door is the biggest opening on most houses. If it fails in a hurricane, wind gets in and pressure can lift the roof.
Doors rated for your location, installed to the maker's drawing, with the permit handled.

How we handle hurricane & wind-rated garage doors
The garage door is the biggest opening on most houses. If wind pushes it in or pulls it out, pressure inside the house can lift the roof. Wind-rated doors are built and tested to hold.
A wind-rated door has heavier sections, horizontal struts, heavier track and brackets, and a label from the maker that lists its design pressures and test standard. That label stays on the door for the inspector.
We order the door to the rating your location requires, install it to the maker's drawing, and handle the permit. On existing doors, we can tell you whether a retrofit brace kit is available for your model.

Wind Codes Around Charleston
Coastal South Carolina has wind-load requirements for new garage doors. Requirements get stricter closer to the water. Your local building department sets the rules for your address.
A wind-rated door carries a label with its design pressure. Keep it on the door for inspection and resale.
Older doors may be retrofitted with bracing kits from some makers. We'll check your door.
A wind-rated door is also a heavier door. That means stronger springs and, often, a stronger opener. We size everything together so the system works.
When a storm is coming, close the door, unplug the opener and, if you have a manual lock, use it. A properly installed wind-rated door will do the rest.
What moves the price
- Single-car (8–9 ft) vs. two-car (16 ft) door width and dead weight (insulated or wind-strutted doors need heavier springs)
- Single vs. dual torsion spring setup — replacing both springs on a two-spring shaft keeps the door balanced and saves a second trip
- Hardware grade — standard galvanized steel vs. coastal rust-resistant cables, brackets, and sealed nylon ball-bearing rollers
- Opener drive type — repairing a logic board or gear kit vs. installing a new belt-drive or wall-mount jackshaft opener with battery backup
- For full door replacements: insulation rating (R-value), 150-mph wind-load reinforcement, city/county permit fees, and historic district or HOA style rules

Where we do this work
How it works
Call or send the form.
Tell us what the door is doing and what part of Charleston you're in. If your car is trapped inside or the door is stuck wide open, let us know right away.
We come take a look.
A technician comes out with a fully stocked truck, checks the springs, cables, rollers, tracks, and opener balance in person, and shows you what wore out.
You get a clear price before any work starts.
Flat, written price on the spot before a single part comes off your door. No surprise add-ons, and we test the door balance and safety reversal with you before we leave.
Why homeowners call us
- We actually answer the phone — or call back the same day.
- We show up with common springs, cables, rollers, and openers on the truck so most repairs finish in one visit.
- We give you the full flat price in writing before we touch the door — no bait-and-switch service calls.
- We tell you when a new spring or gear kit is all you need instead of pushing a whole new door.
- We balance the door by hand, lubricate the hinges and bearings, and test the safety eyes before we pack up.
What you can expect from us
A garage door is the heaviest moving part of your house — if the spring balance or cable tension is off, the opener and tracks pay the price.
We size springs to your door's actual weight, use corrosion-resistant hardware built for local weather, and test the door until it lifts smoothly with one hand.
If something doesn't sound or move right when we're done, test it with us before we pull out of the driveway.
